A series of films and talks exploring what it means to describe a film as autistic or neurodivergent

What makes a film “autistic”? In this season, Stims Collective present a series of Relaxed Screenings that reflect upon neurodivergent lens, how a film - it’s themes, it’s characters, it’s aesthetics - can convey a different way of being in the world.

Three films, not explicitly about autism, are paired with short films that directly explore the autistic experience. In each post-screening discussion, we will explore how these films could reflect a neurodivergent frame of mind, and whether a film can be unintentionally “autistic”.

The season also includes a special preview screening of THE STIMMING POOL, a film by The Neurocultures Collective and Steven Eastwood, which pioneers a new form of neurodivergent filmmaking.

All screenings will be in a relaxed setting and will take place at the BFI Southbank in NFT3. The screen is wheelchair accessible. Some of the screenings have Descriptive Subtitles and/or Audio Description.
